Description

Southern Grigna or Grignetta is considered the younger sister of the Northern Grigna or Grignonedue to the 300 meters difference in height between the respective peaks.

Its dolomitic peaks, majestic standing over the blue water of Lake Como, offer equipped climbing routes or trekking paths providing numerous hiking chances to a wide range of audience going from very technical climbers to average walkers.

Many of the trails start from the Pian dei Resinelli plateau, which can be reached by car along a winding road climbing up from the village of Ballabio.

The most renown trekking routes in the Resinelli area start from here: the Direttissima, going on top of the Grignetta to the Rosalba mountain hut and the Cresta Cermenati. The Traversata Alta (High Crossing) and the Traversata Bassa (Low Crossing) connect Grignetta and Grigna in a ring that can be walked in two days, staying overnight in a mountain hut.

Grignetta is also a climbing paradise, thanks to its limestone walls with many climbing routes and “vie ferrate” (equipped climbing routes), recently equipped and re-spitted by the mountain guides organizing climbing courses and excursions.

There are numerous climbing routes, accessible over the year, such as Torrione Fiorelli, Sigaro Dones, Torrioni Magnaghi, Gruppo del Fungo, Cresta Segantini, Medale and Antimedale.

It is also interesting the visit to the Ancient Resinelli mines.
