Piani di Bobbio is one of the most famous resort among Lake Como mountains, and is located in Valsassina in the territory of Barzio, between 1660 and 2000 m.a.s.l.. It is very well connected to the village thanks to a cable car.

In winter, thanks to proximity to Milan, it is very popular ski resort both for local skiers, and for visitors wishing to spend a skiing holiday living directly on the ski slopes in one of the several mountain huts available there or in the close-by villages on the Valsassinese plateau. Together with the destination of Valtorta, Bobbio gives life to a larger ski resort with numerous slopes of various difficulty, modern lifts, ski schools and ski rental and equipment rental shops.

In spring and summer the destination is reached by many hikers on foot or by bikers climbing up form Barzio and travelling the various paths leading to Pian di Artavggio, Passo del Toro and Val Biandino, stopping at the various shelters in the area.

For freeride lovers there is also a bike park.

In Bobbio there are many opportunities to practice climbing, with the “via ferrata” Zucco Pesciola (equipped climbing route) going to the top of Zuccone Campelli an other wlle-equipped and signposted climbing walls, such as Zucco Angelone and Corona di Bobbio.

At Piani di Bobbio there are some mountain huts, among all, the Rifugio Lecco, the Rifugio Gran Baita and Rifugio Buzzoni at Alpe Mota

You can reach Piani di Bobbio also on foot:

Many are the itineraries from and to Piani di Bobbio:

Mount Legnoncino is a very panoramic spot of the Lake Como mountains, easily accessible for everyone with a simple walk.

It can be reached using the provincial road 67 in Valvarrone, going up from Dervio or down from Premana. Once in the village of Tremenico, follow the signposts for the hamlet Roccoli Lorla (1463 m.a.s.l.).

Here there’s a pond and the starting point of the itinerary: a nice mule trail leads to the summit in less than an hour (1711 m.a.s.l.). There’s an amazing view over Lake Como, Valvarrone and Piani di Spagna located at the entrance of valtellina. Some picnic tables are available to hikers along the way.

An itinerary to discover small villages in Valsassina: alleys and narrow streets to walk along exploring three hamlets within in the municipality of Primaluna.

Gero is a small hamlet. The legend says that towards the end of 1700 it was submerged by a large landslide that killed most of the inhabitants. Barcone and Gero, once joined in one own community, used to be proper municipalities.

In Barcone to be seen is the church of Madonna delle Grazie located at the entrance of the village. On its facade it displays paintings dating ‘800 by Tagliaferri and frescoes and stuccos dating ‘400.

In Vimogno is the church dedicated to S. Anna and on its facade it also displays a painting by Tagliaferri. Another characteristic place is the Antica Osteria, where it’s possible to drink a glass of wine and still breathe the old days atmosphere.

Some pictures of the three hamlets in the photoes of the friends by La Valsassina In Un Click.

A different way to discover Valsassina , its green paths and its small villages , is by a mountain bike trail running from Margno to Pasturo going through mule tracks , paths and cycle path until the Rocca di Bajedo.

Reach Margno along the provincial road and from here go down to the church along via Canonica , go through the center of town and take the beautiful mule path leading to Taceno.

The first stop is the small church in the hamlet of Bagnala.

The second stop is at the Pioverna waterfall in Tartavalle.

From here take the cycle path following the river along the bottom of the valley and reach Pasturo to discover the church and the town center.

Climb up to Rocca di Bajedo with other characteristics landmarks and a beautiful view over Valsassina, the Plateau and Lake Como mountains.

A demanding tour due to its length ( more than 20 km one way ) reserved for the fit ones.
