Discovering Premana pastures

Description

Scattered throughout the whole territory the pastures or ” Mont “ as they are called in Premana were in the past used as summer pastures for cattle.

Nowaday farming is preserved only in a few of them where it is still possible to watch the production of milk and buy genuine products.

The small clusters of huts are still very popular with families in the village who , especially in the summer , spend time in the renovated huts in search of relaxation and tranquility surrounded by nature. Thanks to this habit Premana has preserved its traditions and has taken care of the mountain territory.

In this unique natural setting the pastures themselves , connected by a network of dirt roads , mule tracks and well-marked trails , are the destination of many hikers both for easy walks and challenging treks.

Along the 32 km long route connecting the 12 pastures , every year in July the skymarathon Giir di Mont , a worldwide known mountain running race , takes place.

Another opportunity to discover the mountain pastures is represented by the Past which take place during the summerThey are traditional festivities with lunch based on vegetable soup and boiled meat shared together , accompanied by music , fun and good wine.
